The Cherubim — Guardians of the Presence

Before the Garden closed after the fall, God placed cherubim at its entrance to guard the way to the Tree of Life. On top of the Ark of the Covenant — the holiest object in all of Israel — two cherubim spread their wings. And God said: “There, between the cherubim, I will meet with you.”

The cherubim are the guardians of what is holy. Four wings. Where they stand, the presence of God is near.

This is a cherub — not a seraph. The seraphim (six wings) stand around the throne and cry “Holy, holy, holy.” The cherubim guard the presence itself. They mark the boundary between the ordinary and the sacred.

This piece is a reminder that God’s presence is not casual. It is weighty and holy. And yet, through Christ, it is open to you. The veil in the temple tore from top to bottom — the presence the cherubim guard is now accessible to anyone who enters through Him.
